REFURBISHMENT ACTIONS AT PFLEIDERERS’ ARNSBERG WORKS

Increase of Profitability with Systraplan

Pfleiderers’ declared aim is to increase the profitability in Germany. With the support of Systraplan extensive modernisations measures have been implemented. After focussing on divisions of derived timber products and infrastructure technique, Pfleiderer – who are now German MDAX listed – is one of the leading European system providers for derived timber products, surface refinement and railway sleeper technology. Supported by 4.400 staff members working on 15 locations in 5 countries Pfleiderer makes an annual turnover of round 900 million Euro.

Systraplan, supplier of automatic storage systems as well as board-transport and handling technology, was instructed by Pfleiderer AG to upgrade their Arnsberg plant with various components in different production devisions.

Direct HPL-board commissioning on  a Systraplan rack serve carrier

Manuel commissioning with the RSC
Rack serve carriers developed by Systraplan enable a storing of laminated boards in complete packages. Apart from the transport of packages, the commissioning is directly accomplished on the rack serve carrier.
Staff travelling on the rack serve carrier pull out single boards from the rack and place these boards then on a commissioning stack in the rack serve carrier.

Driving to the according positions in the rack is automatically carried out in correct order. The operator receives all information required via display.

Economic potential through direct commissioning on the rack serve carrier

Additional room for commissioning outside the stock is not necessary. Residues just remain in stock. This saves time, room, energy and extra conveyors for commissioning.

This semi-automatic progress not only guarantees a faster commissioning, but also a direct access to a multiplicity of variants on laminated boards.

Compiling patterns on the rack serve carrier

Manuel commissioning with the RSC

The automated compilation of different patterns is based on the same principle.
The rack serve carriers’ lifting platform was ergonomically equipped with three lifting tables in order to individually adjust the working height to the operator.
The stacks which are pre-commissioned in such way are then supplied for further processing.

Sorting line with stationary, horizontal buffer for HPL-stacks

Laminated boards, newly-manufactured and  coming from the press, are separated from the pressing steel plates and are then purely piled according to their grades. In order to have always the “good side“ of the board upturned, every second board is flipped.

A stationary rack serve carrier is storing these stacks in an intermediate buffer. When processing varyingly laminate sorts, the system seizes the stack of the same sort of laminated boards which was started last in order to complete this stack until the rated piece number of this stack is obtained.

Connecting new components in available environment

After a smooth installation and connection to the environment available, the newly-installed handlings and storage components result in a considerable optimization of the internal production logistics.

The systems delivered managed to increase the productivity distinctly when commissioning and sorting laminated boards.
