Storage planning and installation with SYSTRAPLAN: How your automatic storage system takes shape
Our team guides each high bay storage project through several steps. From planning and components a complete system is created at your site which we test together, hand over and continue to support with service. In the following sections we describe how we prepare and carry out the installation phase so that this precision pays off in the later everyday operation of your system.Clarifying objectives and developing a joint concept
At the beginning there is the question which performance your high bay storage system should deliver in day to day operation. Is the focus on higher throughput, more transparency in inventory, relief for your team or making new products manageable at all. Together with you we translate these objectives into a clear concept. We analyse material flows, available floor space, existing equipment and the IT environment. From the start we keep later operation in mind. We examine where bottlenecks could occur, how short transport routes can be realised, where synergies can be used and how the storage system fits into your shift operation. On this basis we draw up a first concept with layout, performance data and interfaces that fits your plant.

Planning, design and manufacturing
On the basis of this concept we plan the system in detail. Mechanics, control system, software and IT interfaces are coordinated so that they form a coherent system in operation. We design racking, travel paths and the associated peripheral equipment and take into account from the beginning the properties of the materials that will later be stored. In this way we ensure that panel materials, goods with sensitive surfaces or heavy product stacks arrive safely where they are needed.Part of the preparation takes place at our plant in Herford. There we manufacture components, test central control functions and prepare software and interfaces. The aim of this phase is to ensure that the right technology in the required quality is available for installation so that we can work quickly and in a structured way on your construction site.
Installation at the customer’s site
Depending on the size of the project we are on site with you for several weeks in this phase. Now it becomes clear how well planning, technology and available space fit together. Before the first truck arrives at your hall we walk through the construction site together in our minds. We define where we will pre assemble, where a crane can possibly be positioned, which routes must remain free for forklifts and staff and in which shifts we interfere least with your processes. On this basis we prepare an installation schedule that integrates smoothly into your production.
Level by level the high bay storage system grows on the construction site. Our installation teams lay the rails and assemble the racking with the head bracing row by row. They repeatedly check dimensions. This accuracy becomes visible as soon as the system is in operation. The more precisely the rails are laid and the better the racking is aligned, the more smoothly the technology moves in everyday use and the lower the loads on the running gear.At the same time we keep an eye on your ongoing production. Restricted areas, routing and crane movements are clearly defined so that safety and production go hand in hand. Our site management is available on site, coordinates regularly with your project management and reacts flexibly if something changes in day to day business.
Our fitters know the system and the materials that will later be handled. We set up load suspension devices and conveyor equipment so that the handling is safe and gentle. In this way the installation phase becomes a tangible part of your project and not a separate construction site.
Start up and transition into everyday operation
As soon as the first rack rows are in place, the start up begins. We run real orders, observe the interaction with upstream and downstream systems and adjust parameters. Interfaces to your ERP or warehouse management system are aligned, bottlenecks become visible and are eliminated. Your high bay storage system is integrated into the rhythm of your production, not the other way round.Your operating and maintenance staff are closely involved in this phase. We train directly on the running system, accompany the first cycles and answer questions in the real operating environment. Often the moment when the storage and retrieval machine moves quietly through the aisle for the first time is an important milestone for everyone involved. From this point on confidence in the technology grows noticeably and we remain at your side until day to day operation has stabilised.
Service, maintenance and further development
With the formal handover the project is not finished. Installation and start up lay the foundation for stable operation that is intended to work reliably for many years. Planned maintenance and inspections help to maintain the achieved quality and to ensure the long term availability of your high bay storage system. We are also there for you when your material flow changes, new products are added or extensions are planned. In this way a single project becomes a long term cooperation in which we further develop your high bay storage system step by step together with your production.
Together we put your high bay storage system on track
Only when planning and installation fit together does a high bay storage system work reliably. We always look for dialogue with people who share this ambition.Let us work together to turn complex technology into reliable day to day operation. Contact us, we look forward to new challenges.
